coming home on vacation

Located in the heart of the Frisian Lakes, De Koevoet offers a unique destination for anyone looking to escape the daily hustle. Whether you are looking for some quiet, adventure or a combination of both, at De Koevoet you have come to the right place.

our history

Agnes Galama, our mother, started as a business manager together with our father in 1969 at this unique location. She fell in love with this place at first sight and thought ‘this is where I will stay and never leave’. After her divorce, she bought De Koevoet in 1981 and built it into a characterful retreat where tranquillity is central, including its own fondue restaurant!

In 2014, on her 75th birthday, Agnes handed over the baton to us, her children Niels and Nelly. We are proud to continue the family business with the same dedication and love.
50 years de koevoet

Niels & Nelly

Over the years, a lot has changed within our company, but some things remain unchanged: the commitment to our guests and the love for our environment.

Whereas Niels knows the company inside and out through maintenance work in the apartments and the marina, Nelly complements this perfectly with her back-office duties. Of course, you will also recognise us both as hosts!

socially responsible

At De Koevoet, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. After all, we have the most beautiful part of Friesland around us and we would like to keep it that way for future generations. That is why we are continuously working on making our business more sustainable.

One of our favourite initiatives is the use of sparrow roof tiles, a special project that started when we renovated our old roof. The roof housed sparrows for many years, and we naturally wanted these charming residents to have a home even after the renovation. Agnes donated ten of these special roof tiles to us and named them after people who have been important to De Koevoet over the years. This was later joined by donations from others. The sparrow roof tiles are now always reserved and booked!

We also continue to innovate in the field of renewable energy. We invest in green technologies and are constantly looking for new ways to reduce our carbon footprint. Sparrow roof tiles and our other sustainable initiatives are not only projects for us, but also very important for the future.
